Rule like a lion version2

I really enjoyed doing this project and I think it was a good exercise on hand-lettering and creative brainstorming. 

The animal I chose for this project is Lion. As Lion is known for being the king of the beast or king of the jungle I went on with the phrase: Rule like a Lion. Lions are beautiful, dangerous and appears as a symbol of power at the same time. I wanted to somehow demonstrated these characteristics of lion in my work.

first I did a few rough sketches on different ideas and layouts then refined those I liked most a couple of times, digitised them and added color and textures using photoshop and illustrator.  

I did two versions of this work, because I had some difficulties choosing between my sketches and also was curious to see how the end result would turn out. 

Rule like a lion

I have recently started to take Skillshare online classes and made this lettering piece as a class project on hand lettering, tutored by my favourite lettering artist and illustrator Mary Kate McDevit. This very fun and inspiring project was about creating a lettering piece composed of words and illustration. The animal I chose was lion. On the brainstorming phase I drew a few rough sketches on different layouts, compositions and lettering styles. After choosing my favourite one, I redrew it a couple of times and worked on the details, then scanned it in, added colours and textures using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. I'll probably complete another version of it as well.
